21 Day Fix EXTREME: Countdown to Competition

One of the most exciting features of the 21 Day Fix EXTREME is the Countdown to Competition Eating Plan. Before a swimsuit competition, Autumn Calabrese will focus her nutrition in order to slim down and maximize her results. Her nutrition plan follows the concept of “carb depletion”, which temporarily removes carbs from your diet and instead focuses on lean proteins, vitamin-rich veggies, and healthy fats. By doing so, your body is able to burn through body fat while still fueling your body in a healthy way. The Countdown to Competition eating plan is comprised of a combination of both the carb depletion as well as the 21 Day Fix EXTREME eating plans. You follow a “two days on, one day off” schedule, alternating between the two plans.

This plan is intense, and it’s not for everyone. If this plan doesn’t interest you, that’s OK! Just by following the 21 Day Fix EXTREME Eating Plan, you’re going to get amazing results. It’s also only meant to be a temporary eating plan, in fact it’s not recommended for more than 21 days at a time. I’ve decided to commit to it now so that I can get the very best results possible in my first round of the 21 Day Fix EXTREME. I’ll be following this plan closely and posting my meals along the way, along with my thoughts on the workouts and the program as a whole.

Buffalo chicken meatballs was one of my favorite meals during the 21DFX, so it was fitting that it was my last meal. The past 21 days were challenging, and the Countdown to Competition Eating Plan was pretty intense. I’m glad I did it though, because I lost 4 lbs and I see more definition in my arms, stomach, and hips. This is a fantastic program, and I definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to become stronger and more toned. I’m going to dive right in to round 2, this time sticking to just the 21DFX Eating Plan. It’s advised that you only do the Countdown to Competition Eating Plan occasionally, and once you’re finished, slow reintroduce things like carbs and dairy into your diet. I plan to limit my dairy considerably… I’ve learned these past few weeks that dairy doesn’t agree with my body well and I’m much happier without it. Carbs I’m actually looking forward to, but I will try and use some self-control for the next week or so and not overdo it. I look forward to pushing onward in my fitness journey, learning more about healthy eating and becoming stronger along the way.

I wanted Chipotle in the worst way, but instead of caving I created my own container-conquering version. This bowl is loaded… I made some of my favorite cauliflower queso, mixed it with some brown rice, and topped it with spicy seasoned ground turkey, salsa, greens, red onions, tomatoes, jalapenos, and of course, Chipotle Tabasco sauce.

I had been wanting to make this stuffed poblano pepper with cashew chipotle sauce, but since I didn’t have any poblanos I improvised with some spaghetti squash. I topped it with some garlic herb roasted shrimp and thew in some cumin and paprika roasted sweet potatoes.
